Historic Crystal River Resort Getting Revamp Amid Manatee Country

New ownership at Florida’s iconic, 232-acre waterfront Plantation Resort on Crystal River—which is currently closed—is set to restore the property following damage from last year’s hurricane season.

The Crystal River resort, which has been a go-to destination for nature lovers, boaters, golfers, and manatee enthusiasts for decades, is set to reopen in phases starting in mid-September, with initial improvements focused on the restoration of the 96,000-gallon outdoor pool overlooking King’s Bay; the renovation of the main reception area to welcome arriving guests; the reopening of the West 82° restaurant in a limited format, beginning with breakfast service; the phased reopening of the waterfront Tiki Bar; refreshed guestrooms in the Rose Building, which remained undamaged during the storm; and the restoration and reopening of the fitness center.

“We’re honored to bring new life to this historic property while preserving the spirit that generations of visitors have cherished,” said Michael Mancke, Project Manager for the restoration and GM of nearby Paddletail Waterfront Lodge, in a media statement. “As always, our vision is rooted in stewardship, community connection, and thoughtful renewal.”

More details on the Florida resort’s future branding and full reopening timeline will be shared in the weeks ahead.
