Miami International Airport’s First Private Terminal Expected in 2026

Miami International Airport (MIA) is poised to elevate the travel experience with the arrival of PS MIA, a private luxury terminal slated to open in spring 2026. On July 10, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and PS—the first-of-its-kind private terminal operator for commercial travelers in the U.S.—hosted the groundbreaking ceremony and unveiled the design renderings for the exclusive facility.

World-Class Experience at MIA

Once complete, PS MIA will provide an alternative, private terminal experience at one of the nation’s busiest airports, designed for travelers who prioritize privacy, convenience and personalized service.

The terminal will transform and restore the historic Pan American Airways headquarters at 4900 NW 36th Street—an architectural icon and Miami-Dade County-designated historic site since 2014. Guests will enjoy five private suites, two luxe salons with curated dining options, a day spa featuring massages and beauty treatments and a central outdoor courtyard.

“With the groundbreaking of PS MIA, we’re ushering in a new era of luxury travel at Miami International Airport—right here in the heart of Miami-Dade County,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, in a media statement. “This first-of-its-kind private terminal in Florida not only enhances the world-class experience our airport offers but also breathes new life into a historic landmark that shaped aviation history. I’m proud to welcome PS to our community and applaud their commitment to honoring our past while designing for the future.”

PS MIA’s design pays homage to Miami’s vibrant cultural and design heritage, incorporating elements like terrazzo, marble, smoked glass and patterns reminiscent of Lilly Pulitzer and Marimekko.

Notable architectural features of the Pan Am building—including the original gold paneling, Pan Am logos, and reflecting pools—will be meticulously restored. The project brings together RJ Heisenbottle Architects, specialists in historical restoration, and Cliff Fong, the celebrated interior designer behind PS LAX’s acclaimed aesthetic.
